1940s PELICAN BROOCH, ROSE TONE

This is a very special BROOCH, rare, collectible, great condition.  Wingspan is 3 1/2 inches.  The head, neck, pouch, and little fish are gold tone.  The feathered body is very detailed rose gold tone with pavé rhinestone shoulders.  The middle of the body appears silvery.  Vintage costume jewelry in excellent condition, circa 1940s.  Sparkles doesn't use the word rare lightly .. research among other dealers reveals that none have ever seen a duplicate of this brooch.

VAQUERO  WITH CACTUS and PACK ANIMAL

BROOCH the figural has a serape across his shoulder and is standing between a large cactus and his pack animal.  Circa 1940, locking c-clasp, set with bright emerald-color rhinestones, replacements for the originals.   Vintage costume jewelry in very good condition,  the gold tone plating is showing a bit of the underlying silver color just on the pack and the lowest lobe of the cactus in excellent condition, about 2 inches.

VICTORIAN CAST STERLING CAMEO BROOCH

Intriguing piece of jewelry.  It is shield shape, that is it is domed with a "thunbprint" indentation on the back (to save weight), but also, on the front the top and the bottom are rounded forward, so that seen from the side edge it  is a bit saucer shape.  Wonderful detail on the cameo, the warrior appear to be a female.  Thought to be from about 1880, at some point what was probably a simple-C clasp was converted to a locking c-clasp.   Sparklz expected to fine English hallmarks but it is simply marked sterling at the bottom; it may have been a tourist trinket for those great travelers of the era.  Antique estate jewelry in excellent condition,  2 1/4 inch.

TORTOLANI ELF IN THE MOON BROOCH

The sliver of moon is corrugate gold tone with a rind of blue enamel and a faux, simulated pearl at the top.  The colorfully painted, long ear elf is waiving his green hand.  Paint enamel, there are a few flakes on the blue part of the moon and on the edge of the tunic ruffle.   Vintage costume jewelry in very good condition, about 2 1/2 inches.

ART NOUVEAU STERLING MARCASITE BROOCH

The flowers on the left and in her hand, plus the flowing hair which mimics ocean waves, then continues around her head, all reflect the best of the Nouveau period.   Highly detailed Sterling (marked 915) cast piece, enhanced with the judicious use of marcasites, is almost 2 inches.   Vintage estate jewelry circa 1910, in like new excellent condition.

BUTTERFLY WING LINK BRACELET

Repeating scene is a silhouette, reverse painted on the inside of the transparent dome, mounted over a background  made of the beautiful Morpho butterfly wing.   It appears that this was a very small bracelet and was lengthened with the use of the circle-in-a-circle links.  The original is silver tone, and the extension appears to be rhodium plated silver tone.   A professional job, it flows well with the original.    7 1/2 inches long, vintage costume jewelry in excellent condition, the wings are bright without the wing deterioration commonly seen  in some older pieces.

REJA EMERALD & RUBY COLOR BIRD BROOCH

Small but powerful design in this jewelry brooch meant to successfully imitate high value fine jewelry.   Collectible, Reja executed deftly with an emerald color pear shape in the flow of the wing and a bright ruby color rhinestone in the backward facing head.   Clear rhinestones completed the vintage costume jewelry 1 5/8 inch gold tone brooch.   In excellent condition.  The mark is Reja with an underline of the last 3 letter flowing off the foot of the R, thought to be circa 1950s.   Great buy on a quality collectible.

ELZAC ~ VICTIM OF FASHION CERAMIC BROOCH ~ SALOON DAME

Elzac was a California Pottery Company that created interesting figurals in the 1940s.  Always collectible, the glaze is often  finely crazed with age.  The dame has ruffled red cellophane at the bustline and as a halo around the head.  Her earrings and choker are red sequins.  There is a red feather at the top and a net veil over the face.  Altogether perfectly dressed for her chosen profession.  Typically, the glaze is finely crazed.  The cellophane has slid forward from its original anchoring on the left shoulder, not particularly noticeable due to the ruffling. Otherwise in excellent condition and appears to be as originally made..  Vintage costume jewelry, approximately 4 1/4" total height.

ELZAC ~  CERAMIC BROOCH ~ COW BROOCH

Whimsical figural created by Elzac, a California Pottery Company, circa 1940s.  The closed eye expression is typical of many of the brooches.  This one has a tuft of fuzz, strung with a strand of baby blue and yellow beads and anchored at each end (top and bottom with a blue leather flat floret.   Always collectible, the glaze is often  finely crazed with age, this one is fairly free of crazing, with some appearing along the ears and on the left cheek.   The back appears to be as originally made.  Vintage costume jewelry, about 2 3/4 inches.

ELZAC ~ CARMAN MIRANDA STYLE FRUIT LADY

Elzac was a California Pottery Company that created whimsical figurals in the 1940s.  Carmen has a chain ear to ear, a band of green sequins anchors her made-of-gold-braid fruit bowl.  Gold leather backs up the fruit bowl. Always collectible, the glaze on these pieces is often  finely crazed with age and this one has that trait.  The fruit bowl is missing some pearls and doodads and it has two brass beads which have acquired verdigris with age.  No attempt  has been made to clean or make replacements in the fruit bowl..  The back appears to be as originally made.   Vintage costume jewelry, sometimes called Victim of Fashion 4 inches.
